BAMEDCA - UNITED KINGDOM CHAPTER

aThe Bamendankwe Development and Cultural Association – United Kingdom Chapter (BAMEDCA-UK) is one of the oldest diaspora branches of the Bamendankwe community. Its roots date back to informal gatherings in the 1960s, eventually leading to its formal establishment in the 1980s. Today, it serves as a vital link for the diaspora, preserving cultural identity and driving development projects back home.

The branch holds monthly meetings on the first Sunday of every month and has a membership of approximately 85 registered members, with about 60 actively participating in its activities.

Structure and Leadership

As the population grew, the chapter expanded to ensure effective regional organization while maintaining a unified national identity. The structure currently includes:

  • The South Branch
  • The Midlands and
  • North Branch (Created in 2017)
  • BAMEDCA-UK National Executive: Oversees coordination between branches and works closely with regional leadership teams.

The Bamendankwe Development Trust (BDT)

Established in 1997, the BDT is a registered UK charity that serves as the chapter’s official development arm. It is the primary vehicle for mobilizing resources and implementing humanitarian and infrastructural projects in Cameroon.
